9. The currency of Hong Kong is based on the
silver dollar.
For the purposes of local payment,
salaries fixed in sterling are converted into dollars
at rates fixed by the Government.
The rate as from the
1st of January, 1932, has been fixed at the current
rate of exchange, subject to a minimum rate of la. and

a maximum rate of 28. A pamphlet containing infomation
as to the conditions and cost of living in Hong Kong is
enclosed.
10. During their period of training Cadets are
entitled to free quarters; if Government quarters are not
available, a rent or lodging allowance will be paid.
11.
The appointment may be terminated at any time
on the Governor giving three months' notice, or on the
payment of one month's salary in lieu of notice. In the
event of a Cadet wishing to leave the service at any time,
he will be required to give three months' notice, or to
pay to the Government a sum equal to three months' salary.
